Warning Light...

This warning light came on in my car today and it's not in my handbook... It's to the left of the oil warning light and looks a bit like this...

 

Any ideas?

a picture paints a thousands words but...

 

anyway, you're slightly low on rear hydraulics fluid.

 

you need to put some LHM into the tank located in the boot, on the left hand side.

 

you'll need to take the tailgate spring off and pull the panel off to reveal the tank.

What is LHM by the way?

Its the same stuff as you use in Citroen hydraulics. Halfords, GSF or similar will sell it

yeah there's a little plastic window with a "floater" in which tells you the level,

but you'll most probably need to add just 1/10th or 2/10th of a liter, therefore

add a little bit and then check if the light has gone off.

 

it would also be a good idea to press the service mode button (after you've

finished with topping it up) to make sure all the fluid has circulated through

the system and then check the level (on the window) when you turn the

service mode off and the car sits back down one last time .

Yeah, I will do...

 

It's a bit weird, as it came on when I was just about to pull out of a petrol station. So we stopped the car, pressed the service button, and it all lifted as it should. However, when I released the handbrake and went to drive, the back did not lower. So I had to turn the engine off and then it worked...

 

So I thought I best take the car home, and when I pulled out of the garage, the light went off... But I thought I best not drive it any more until I know for sure what the light means...

Grr... Why is it such a nightmare to get the spring off? Or am I just super weak?

 

Doesn't look like there's much room to play around there either... What's the best way to get the LHM from the bottle to the tank?

 

Is the little plastic window that you mentioned more of a dome shape thing on top of the tank? Does it have two lines going around it, and the float should sit in the middle?

It is indeed below the required level... Only by 5mm or so though!

Didn't have to take the spring off in the end!

 

Was lucky I didn't go over the max though, it only took a drop!
