Bottom Engine Mount Changing

Recommended Posts

I'd like to change the engine mounts on the Mi16 before the MOT, but I have a query about the bottom one. Does the entire casing have to be removed from the car in order to remove the mounting, or can it be changed in situ?

It may be possible to do it in situ but TBH I wouldn't bother trying. Its a quick job to take the casing off anyway, providing the driveshaft bearing isn't seized into the mount housing

Does the driveshaft not have to come out though?

Yeah thats why I said about the driveshaft bearing ;)

Take o/s/f wheel off, undo hub nut, undo ball joint, undo drivehaft retaining pins, remove driveshaft, remove engine mount housing, cut/press out old mount, press in new mount and whack it all back together with plenty of copper grease on the outer surface of the driveshaft bearing to stop it seizing.

Job done :)
