And the 306 we used to have. A common problem on Pugs (French wiring :D), and older Fords too (mk3/4 Escorts and Sierras I know have this problem)

It'll be in the loom somewhere. Try cleaning the multiplug to the bulbholder and packing it with diletric grease. If that don't do it then use a multimeter or wiring diagram to idenify th earth wire in the loom to the lights and intercept it to lay in a new earth, which may not be a bad idea ayway.

The earth for the rear light clusters is behind the plastic panel in the boot below the boot latch. On my old car I ran new earth wires to the same point. It has a crappy multiplug that rattles around, but if you unplug it you will see a bolt that you can fix the new earth wires to. Then replace the plug. I used self tapping screws to get a good connection onto the light clusters.

my daughter had probs with her 306xsi and it turned out to be the internal earth on the ecu. quote for new ecu was stupid, so fitted external earth to ecu and all is well. only cost 37p :P
