Removing Aircon Pump

Recommended Posts

Jer309GTi

I've decided to take off my aircon, as it has never worked and has been discharged for over a year so chances are the seals are knackered anyway. Also to make some more room in the engine bay for any future mods, and to take a bit of weight out of the old girl!

Will I need a different tensioner for the alternator belt, or does the movement of the alternator cater for the adjustment? In other words, on a non aircon car, does the belt just go from the crank pulley to the alternator, or is there a seperate tensioner?

Thanks :)

No, you remove it all and simply use the belt for non-airconned 405 Mi16s.

P.S: I'll have the tensioner from you if you like! ;)

One of the reasons I'm taking it off is because the tensioner is shot and I don't want to pay the £50 or whatever ridiculous amount it is to replace it!

Thanks for the reply btw :)
