Driveshaft Interchangeability

When doing a cam belt change on a mate's 2.0l 406 during the week, I noticed how thick the driveshafts were (like the GTi6).

 

It got me thinking whether they (or any other Pug shaft) would fit a D6 Series 1.5 405 Mi16 (15"wheels & BE3 box).

 

My 405 is primarily a track car & as the latest engine upgrade should push out 200+hp, the cheaper option to custom made shafts maybe ones from a later Pug.

 

Has anyone tried or know what is possible?

well, i run standard Mi16 shafts with 200bhp, and a 50bhp shot of NOS, no problems as yet (done 30,000 miles so far). So the shafts apear to be more than strong enough to cope with a little extra.
