Xsara Vts Rear Hubs

Recommended Posts

Mad Scientist

I am going to fit some xsara vts trailing arms to the back of my car, for the added camber. Wondering whether to fit the 205 stub axles and hubs, or the vts ones?

Presumably the abs rear hubs from the vts would add a little track?

Yep, they'll add roughly 10mm a side if that's what your after? You'll need to use the xsara/306 discs as they run a different offset.

Whenever I have done this, my donor xsara/306 arms have been complete with everything needed, wheel bearings, discs, calipers etc, so I have fitted them complete. No reason why you cannot swap to 205 stuff if you prefer.

I guess the extra track could add a little stability, but could also dumb it down. I think I'll stick with the 205 hubs for now. Don't want to end up catching the arches with 195s either.

I'd originally thought about the abs hubs, in order to use the sensor for my DTA launch control, but the sensor isn't suitable.

You will still be well clear of the arches with 195/50/15's on 1900 wheels and the 306 arms on a 205 tube. I have done this in the last 12 months on at least 3 cars.

I run 309 tube plus Xsara arms plus 4mm per side and just about get away with it, plastic arches are well relieved though.

Good to know Tom, thanks.

When I first built the car, I stripped the hubs down, cleaned them up and rebuilt them. Some of the bearings were a little pitted and it was one of the few things I was 100% happy with. I think I might get some xsara hubs and experiment on track with both.

Anyone have any suggestions on decent aftermarket suppliers?

I obviously meant "wasn't 100% happy" above!
