Intermittent Fault, Mixture Regulation Function

i plugged the estate into my pp2000 and its reading "intermittent fault, mixture regulation function" fault, anyone got any ideas on what this is?

Something relating to the lambda sensor would be my guess.

i know the lambda would cause it to run poo but would it stop it from running/making it cut out?

It can do, if it throws the mixture way out at idle.

Remember that the error doesn't have to mean the lambda is at fault.

 

It could be that the fuelling is further out than the limit that the ECU is able to trim from the lambda signal.

 

Unplug the lambda sensor and see if it seems to run much better. If it does, try another lambda, and if it doesn't, chances are the lambda isn't at fault and it's something messing the fuelling up to the point the lambda is effectively out of bounds. A poorly running engine would almost certainly have unburnt fuel and a mixture that deviates from stoichiometric (which is all a narrowband lambda can sense)
