Recommended Posts

jameswallace.

Right basically i have a standerd 1.6 gti which has been running really well but recently started to lose pressure completely at about 5500 revs. the pressure gage will go from top to bottom straight away! any ideas? the oil warning light doesnt come on swo could it just be a faulty sensor?

or could it the the oil pump or what? anybodyy had anything similar?

any ideas would be heavly appreachiated!

Sensor or wiring issue - quite common.

If it was a real oil pressure issue then the warning light would be coming on at the same time.

A friend of mine had the same problem not too long back and ended up trying a mechanical guage and all was fine, it turned out to be a faulty sensor.

Front of the engine under the inlet, there are 2 sensors next to each other, its the bigger one of the 2.If you look down between the alternator and the inlet you will see them
