High Boost Supercharged 205 Gti6

Recommended Posts

Paul_13

I'm posting this on behalf of Mikeygti16, thought I'd post up a project thread about the car.

Basically started life as a 1.9 gti, it's cherry red orange :P. Originally a 1.9gti engine that had a cracked liner from top to bottom, then had the 306 DTI6 Hifail heads engine which lasted less than 50 miles (enough said don't want this to go any further!) Then bought a 6 engine off of Anthony which was spot on ;)

There's a few other things which have/are been/being installed such as:

Brembos,

Coilovers,

Speedline Corse wheels,

Roll cage,

406 mc,

Strut brace,

OMP steering wheel,

Xsara quickrack,

Lightened Rich W flywheel,

Recently he bought this with the intention of using the supercharger kit and returning it to standard to sell on.

So far we achieved the following:

Stripped the supercharger kit off the 306, what a royal c*nt to get the bracket bolts out insitu!

Low boost to high boost by a pry of a screw driver (que the forged pistons etc ) This is what restricts the supercharger to 'low boost'

Inlet off the 205, ready for trial fitting of the supercharger inlet manifold.

By the looks of it we may get away with it but due to the S16 mount used the inlet fouls on a small part of it so won't sit flush with the head. I am aware they supply a 205 length manifold but we want to see if we can get away with it.

Hehe

Speedline corse wheels that he is using on his car, 16" but have a smaller rolling radius that 15" wheels. Also can squeeze my 309 beam on, which he's buying off me.

Jobs for tomorrow:

Put standard inlet back onto the 306

Sort out the immobiliser issue with locking the ECU.

Take coilovers off

Put standard brakes back on

Put standard front suspension on

Swap wishbones over as they have roller bearings in

Swap headlights as they are black masks

Get it started

A table containing some very expensive bits

That's going to be a mental drive mate! Mine is running the low boost kit and is very lively, so will be manic with high boost ;-)

Speedline 2108 16x7j with a 195 40 16 tyre?

Same as mine but mine are black :D one of very few wheels to suit the 205 even better than the sl434s

All done apart from the brakes, the flexis my mate had in storage had stripped all the threads

To get over the problem of the ECU locking, we opened up the ECU and after a bit of research on the 306gti6 forum we found what we needed to do.

On the bottom tier of pins, you cut the 8th pin along from the right and that stops the ECU from locking. obviously if it was unlocked in the first place. We sealed the ECU cover back on and all done :)

Inlet on and all connectors back in place. Tried starting it and started on first turn of the key :) Bloody loud due the 3" magnex(?) down pipe and lack of a decat pipe

Also found this when removing the coil overs

Is that the high boost ecu? I was expecting to see the flash chip socketed.

That's not the only pin to cut either, you want to cut pins 27 and 48, 48 is hard to get at because it's not on the front row of pins inside the ecu, I usually cut the trace on the board that goes to it.

He'll be going Omex in the 205 mate. 306 has been returned to standard now, hence why we cut that pin.

It's worked soo far so can't see it locking itself

It'll probably be fine with just the 1 pin cut, but pin 48 can lock the ecu as well so I used to cut both, I'll probably not be doing the gti6 ecus anymore, too much work compared to bosch ecus!
