205 Engine Keep Or Change

Hi am a mechanic who has finally decided to wake my 205 gti 1.9 since I locked it away in 2001. The car had the usual faults with a seized back axle, non existent stem seals and the worst clutch for clearance even after three or four clutches, clutch fork and pushrod. My dilemma was the best choice for to keep the standard engine and modify or replace completely. Labour and tools not an issue but the knowledge would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Also budget has to be taken into account as well.

If your car is original keep it that way. they're getting very rare now.

 

also, is it a be3 or be clutch? Might be worth going be3 if not.
