'l' Linkage On Gear Change

Recommended Posts

jonb_5

Hi

The L linkage on the 1.6 has massive play in it but I am not sure why, the bushes etc seem almost brand new...

The 2 dome shaped washers if you like, that protrude either side of the l linkage do move a little, is this normal?

I have tried putting on an extra washer to space the bolt and do up tight but it is still sloppy.

Does anyone have any instruction on how to fit?

Also, I have my first hill climb next week and am wondering if it would be an idea to move the joint 20mm or so down the shorter shaft, to give me a better shift?

Any ideas welcome as would like to get sorted before the first race....

Many Thanks

Jon

the bushes may "seem" brand new, but are they actually brand new? just replace them for the sake of 50p if you don't know how old they are.

same goes for the ones in the gearstick, and the two white pieces that the main long gear rod are sandwiched between on the exhaust tunnel under the centre console.

sort those before making any alterations to the throw of the shift, you may well find its short enough, I certainly did myself.
