At least your ok and it didnt roll over and crush you. Can you not beat the crushed area out for now and fit a new wing over it? I'm sure you could get a new headlight panel and inner wing to the turret section and have it welded in. Otherwise always looked a tidy shell so would be a shame to get rid of it for that.

 

why not buy a white 3 door base model and swap everything over and make a fake rallye?

I appreciate the 5 door reshell would only owe you a few hundred quid...

 

But, would you actually be happy with it. Currently you have something that when seen/spoken about sounds a bit special. It's a nice base, with a good engine in.

 

I fear if you buy a 5 door shell, it will come across as a bit different, and a bit of a laugh. Then through the summer when the sleeper appeal wears off I fear you will wish you just held out for a GTi shell.

 

Give it time, you will find someone who is breaking one with a half tidy shell that may let you have the shell for scrap money.

 

I would be putting the £200, and tot up the hassle and time factor and be making your car what you want again. You have had it that long, i'm suprised you are not even considering repairing. Get some quotes, ask around. Find out if the chassis is straight and if so weigh up the price of having what you were happy with back again, or a 5 door fad.

 

Buy cheap, buy twice. I can see you having a 5 door shell, then after the summer a wanted post up for a GTi/rallye shell and you kicking yourself for wishing you had just put the 5 door shell money into something better in the first place.

 

At least concider a 3 door base model.

Sorry to hear this ally, I can totally understand the appeal of a 5 door sleeper with something silly under the bonnet. Had my eye on a cheeky Miami blue three door base model shell! Hope you have better luck with whatever path you take!

Just to conclude this;

 

 

top left corner of the windscreen has pooped out a little and the passenger door doesn't close so new shell is certainly the best idea.
