Driveshaft Retaining Nuts (Removal)

Just after some advice really, never attempted to remove these before..

 

What are peoples opinion on the best method?!

aha I had presumed a large bar was in order and a tubby freind to stand on it need to stand on the brake pedal or will it be alrite just on the ground?!

With a 1.9 or car with 1.9 wheels

 

Remove wheel and centre cap

Replace wheel without centre cap, basically don't do this on a jack.

Chock wheel with suitable brick type thing

Apply pressure and slacken.

Pull trigger on Windy gun and job done,

Off subject miles whats the best way to contact you about re-angling a gti-6 fanimold?

Spend several hundred £'s on a compressor, airlines and air impact gun, pull trigger and job done,

They can be REAL stubborn sometimes.. I've had one that required the wheel to be turned into the kerb, handbrake on, engine running, foot hard on brakes, then a 3/4" drive breaker with 6' extension and me and a mate pulling up on the end! Was probably done up by some berk with a windy-gun tbh..

Don't make the mistake of removing the calipers first

Mind the odd one I have to use a Torque Multiplier, it can undo 1250 ft lb of torques

take it to a garage get them to do undo them then tighten them up yourself drive home and do the job.

well after summoning some enthusiam and not fixing s*it that dogs decide to chew... I decided to have a go.. after sourcing a 35mm socket they came off with ease have to say was slightly surprised cheers for advice guys

You're lucky - last one I did I ended up breaking the t-bar. Well done

Breaker bar and scaffold pole / old exhaust pipe, then lift it will come easy and first time.

 

Make sure someone has their foot on the brake and or bricks behind the wheels.
