A Unique Gti From Down Under

My car looked like a trashcan when i got back home... that car is as wonderful as it is depressing...

+1!

The question is what is the intention of the people buying them new in the first place?

Surely you don't buy a new car to store it so I guess it was circumstances that led to this (i.e. owned by someone who died  ?)

Fantastic!! it's amazing to see a factory fresh car like that. It makes all the 'restored' examples around look a bit weak.

Agreeed! It did make me wonder why Im bothering when my 205 looks a bit pathetic in comparison. But I guess the difference is I will be able to take mine for a thrash without feeling guilty about adding miles, and damaging factory paint and finishes etc. :D Anything on mine can be repaired and replaced again if needs be.

I meant general wear and tear, from using and enjoying it rather than more catastrophic damage!:P

Some interesting dates on some of the hoses under the bonnet of that 205, 1992\1993 on them all. Either this car was actually built in 1993 and sat in storage for 2 years before being registered in 1995, or the later Spanish built ones were built from stocks of spares (That themselves were several years old already!) It would certainly explain the mismatch of plastics on the dash. Although very nice, its certainly a parts bin special!

^^^ Well... it depends... Peugeots from that time here ir Argentina could have been in customs, dealers and showrooms for quite a bit. My GTI has 1992 parts all over and was sold in 1993. Others I`ve seen have been sold in 1999 and 2001 since they were kept in customs for some reason.

Nevertheless this is obviously a late example... as most 1995 gtis from here... it has no PAS. But I believe it has been built in France.. I did forget to see in the VIN number where it was made... will do next time. Spanish gtis.... at least the ones I`ve seen here.... have no sunroof... and a few have plastic inlets...

Thats interesting information, thanks - So it could have actually been built in 1993 or so then!

Should be what all concours cars are now judged from IMO :)
