Guest Stainpain Posted February 29, 2012 I have the 1.6 gti, and a guy from work offered me a reconned 1.9 head with brand new high lift cams for £40, including a decent gasket set and new stretch bolts. pug_ham 242 3 Cars Posted February 29, 2012 Heads (mid 86>) until they stopped production are the same but the cam is different between the 1.6 & 1.9, although not by much. Having driven a 1.6 with a 1.9 cam in, I'd stick with the cam for the engine size personally but as you mention an aftermarket "high lift camshaft" that shouldn't matter. What cam it is will though as the standard injection system won't take a wild camshaft above the Kent or Piper 270' regrinds very well due to the AFM. g Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
