Cam Id If Possible ?

I'm in the process of a clear out and am breaking down an engine I bought as "rebuilt bottom end with ported head and performance cam" - Block and head are severely frost damaged and neither hold water! Cam is stamped "496" ojn the distributer nose end...... is this any clue??? Wild shot maybe...but you never know .

sounds like a Catcam number, which engine is it?

1.9 8V - has certainly had headwork done - looks very non-standard in the ports.....shame the head is scrap - but may well be worth stripping, not actually got the head off yet. looking at the catcams site... I was told it was built for hillclimbing and to run twin 45's was distintly underwhelming on 1.9 injection - but really came alive at high revs using the 1.6 set up on 1.9 engine - so def. fuel hungry !!
