Removing Cams From An Engine In Situ

Recommended Posts

cheesegrater

Hi all, is there a safe way of removing and reinstalling the cams from an XU10J4RS with the engine still in the car with out running the risk of hitting valve tips? Reason I ask is my cam carriers are leaking (yes I know!) and need to do it ASAP. Many thanks.

Beware that the hole in the harmonic balancer is in the outer, and thus can rotate, giving you a false position for the crankshaft. Only pin a known, or new, harmonic balancer on R and RS engines.
