Emerald Adjustable Length Intake Trumpet Development

Recommended Posts

Sandy

Good on DW for going to the trouble and writing it up. His findings reflect mine quite faithfully and I've taken a lot of stick from alleged experts on this subject. But you can't argue with real world gains and there are other elements that can have as profound an effect too, such as exhaust manifold design and injector type and location.

The main argument I get back is "well we took the 40mm trumpets off and tried 70s, but it made no difference" or similar, but if you're not testing in the right area, you likely not find the sweet spot. The other thing being alot of people will only test at a couple rpm sites to get a trend and miss where the changes happen!

Yep good read,

Inlet length being the reason I moved away from Jenveys and on to Sandy & Colins set up.

Torque values changed dramatically with longer intake.
