Gearbox Oil Seal Renewal

hi im in the process of changing the gearbox seal on my 2 205s im looking for some advice on there renewal as i damaged 1 getting it out and dont wanna damage the new 1

When you say gearbox seal, do you mean the shaft seals on the diff casing or the main shaft seal?

Its the drive shaft sealsi

Get the old one out just by levering it out with a screwdriver or something similar and bin it.

 

For fitting I would run a bit of oil on the outside of the new seal and gently seat it and push it in place by hand and while holding It in place give it a gentle tap with a rubber mallet to start getting it in place. Continue to knock them home going all the way round using the 12, 6, 9 and 3 method untill fully home. Repeat for the other side. Job done.

I used a smallish claw hammer to remove my old ones, just be careful not to score the casing were they sit.
