Best Place To Buy Bottom End Bits?

Was just wondering if anyone knew best place to buy bottom end bits for 2.0 MI16 with HDI crank

 

 

I need....

 

1.) Crank seals both sides

 

2.) big end bearings

 

3.) Main bearings (will I need HDI ones or Mi16) ??

 

4.) thrust washers

 

5.) piston rings

Does anyone know why 405 2.0 MI16 bearings are different prices to 306 S16?? even know there the same?

you need to shop around, don't discount the main dealers though, you'll be surprised what comes out at reasonable prices (J4R big ends, £25 a set!)

When they list the bearings as 2 why does it say set 8 1/2 brng then the part numbers 0606 k2 and 0606 L2 i think is standard size and oversize?? or is it top and bottom bearings??

Crank seals, I only use Payen now, Even the Pug ones I don;t find very good

yeah that's a full set of bearings, one will have CR and one CN next to it, CR is the + 0.3mm oversize set.

you can get a whole bottom end gasket set (including both crank seals) for probably around what you just quoted for the seals alone.

 

check about for the gasket sets.

yeah I do actually, only recently took the head off to make it easier to move around

 

got a gti6 block two gti6 heads and XU10J4R and XU7J4 head, and an XU9JA head and XU5 and an XU7 block

pretty much identical, they will all need a rebore though, they don't wear well so just stick with what you have.

 

that's a funny XU10 gasket set, there's liner seals shown

exactly the same crank.

 

haven't bothered asking about oversize pistons, if you wanted to spend that much I'd be speaking to an engine builder for some higher compression pistons

That's another bad listing, The Iron Block GTi6 engine does not use a sump gasket, End Casing gasket.

 

Just 2 crank seals, Water pump gasket but you get one with a Water pump anyway and a sump washer for 55.00 is a rip off

Again only use a OE Sump gasket, About £10.00 from Pug, these seal unlike all Pattern one's, But the rule is only a sump gasket is you have a tin sump, Anything alloy is just Sealent

is a xu10j4r bottom end any good?

im guess its a detuned version of gti6?

IIRC just doesn't have piston oil spray bars, otherwise the same as other xu10 blocks.
