My bet is you've bent at least 8 valves

 

I bent 14 and thought i'd saved it at one point

No need to replace them for no reason, it's easy to find the bent ones (Well with the proper equipment), Thats why I only use 1 company for these heads as over the years I;ve had them done not one has tapped on re-fitting.

ok...is there no chance is just a hydraulic lifter thats making the tapping noise?

small chance, whip a cam cover off and push down on each lifter with a non-metallic object, they should be firm but a failing lifter will sag much easier.

ok thanks. heres some pics of the engine bay now after deciding to paint the manifold and cam covers before putting it all back together. Also routed the water the same as it was originally on the 205 so now there is not a pipe going over the top of the air filter

how did you mount the battery box?

 

Drilled some holes through the box and into the battery tray, then just made a bracket to hold the batter in place.
