Peugeot 205 Rallye Special

Picked this little beaut up this morning after I saw it on pistonheads a few days ago.

Overall it's in quite good condition, needs a tiny bit of welding doing and abit of surface rust on the boot floor sorting out.

came with a few months mot but no tax. I don't think I've ever drove a car that was this amazing, everything feels so tight. Alot better compared to my XL

Need to try and source some rally steels and lower it slightly and get a new set of decals

So yer:

Nice! Looks very straight.

I'd loose the gti body kit though and revert back to silver inserts in the bumpers. Then I'd swap out the driving lamps in favour of the rallye grille inserts and I'd be ditching the ph1.5 centre console as it doesn't match the ph2 black dash.

Makes me want another Rallye again now!

It needs lots of little things doing. The silver strip is there, it's just the previous owner has put red insulation tape over them. I'm going to give it another good scrub tomorrow and a good polish. They is a 205 in my local scrappy with a black interior that I need to go get some bits out of.

Don't sell your gutmann spoiler like I did! Looks good though. As above get rid of the gti stuff and centre console and get some 106 rallye steeles on it! You'll never find rallye seats I used 1.6 gti cloth seats as I think they are more in keeping.

Good luck!

Any advice about which route to go down to tackel this?

i'd be tempted if theres a 205 down the scrappy, chop off around the areas you want to repair, then cut out the rotten section and weld in the section from the other 205. as said, looks straight :)

Did some rallyes come out the factory with the gti look arches fitted?

As my rallye had the gti arches and gutmann spoiler and the guy I bought it of had it when it was 2 years old and had the arches fitted then?

Nice to see another rallye.

Hope your going to be fitting the rallye bumper slants. looks better than the lamps (imo)

Is this the car owned by that mechanics wife? If so bargain :)

It is indeed. I think she actually cried when I was driving off

Got the day off work tomorrow so going to carry on stripping the front end off ready for cutting and welding. Ordered new panels from peugeot so they should be here soon

Another pic of the rust:

Still waiting for the parts to come from peugeot. So i got on with other jobs like the blowing badly exhaust. It was blowing quite badly from the middle box so I replaced it with a spare one I had laying around with the other spares I have

Doesn't sound bad either, sounds really raspy. On my next day off off I need to sort the rear brakes out because there sticking when it's been sat. After the rust and a few other bits are done it should be ready for mot :)

Getting this back from my local bodyshop in about a week, got a good price from them for the welding work and some paintwork I wanted doing. Seemed the easiest route to go down in the end.

Also found a haynes manual in the boot when I was packing it onto the trailor, happy days

After about a month of searching I finaly found a set of steels. They were only 20min down the road as well so that's a bonus.

There quite tidy but I'm going to get on with the refurb later today. Body shop rang today saying I can pick the car up tomorrow aswell, I'm so excited to get on with the rebuild...

Nice! Have you ditched the GTi trim and the red inserts?

I've got a good set of silver inserts for the bumpers if you are interested? In fact I'd been keen to swap them for your red ones as I need a good set of reds for my GTi. Go on - you know it makes sense !

You need to get that GTI trim off.

I would presume the arches just stick on as they were the optional extra kit that was available at the time fir the non GTI. Just be careful as they may have marked your paint and there will certainly have been some fading in the stickers if they were fitted from day 1

Yer, stick on. When I removed it from the door for the paint work it pulled some off the paint off so I don't think I'm going to remove the rest. Will get some better photo's up tomorrow of the worked that has been done. Start getting it put back together now :)
