Dta E48 With Std Rev Counter

Recommended Posts

Can anyone confirm that the mod described in My link and shown in this pic#

revcounter.jpg

(hope nickaliath is ok with me using his pic)

is the one to make the std rev counter work with a DTA E48 ecu ? It links out the brown resistor and orange capacitor on the right in this pic

which seems to make sense with what I've heard.

Would be nice if someone could confirm this before I potentially fubar my rev counter.

Thanks in advance.

I tried and can confirm it DOES NOT work.

I contacted DTA, they suggested connecting a relay coil in line with the ECU rev counter output. This DOES NOT work either.

I bought a tacho convertor from Emerald, this DOES work with the E48 and 205 rev counter.

I have to sort this too, i was going to try Daz_C's method but iirc it's similar to above anyway! I didn't really want to have to buy a tacho convertor!

The above does work with DTA S40 ECU's as that's how the old clocks I've sat next to me from Rallyeash's car were done

I guess the older DTA E48's must use a different output signal if Tom's tried it and it doesn't work :(

I have done this wiring mod to a car fitted with a DTA S40, ignition only ECU and can confirm that it works.

As mentioned above, the DTA manual advises to wire a relay coil in parallel with the tacho output and this does not work.
