Just want to clarify the best brand of piston rings to use on a GTI6 engine (XU10J4RS) and where to source them from.

I couldn't find rings anywhere here in Australia so started looking in the UK online and the only place I found was hiflow heads.

 

I've built the engine but haven't quite got it running so can't really tell you how they are. The bloke that built the engine said that it had heaps of compression though :-)

I got mine off the shelf from a local engine parts supplier, the set was for the RFY engine so the top ring was wrong, they just swapped them for a GM top ring.

Ok cheers for that, RFY is the 2.0 16v non-6 engine if i'm correct?

 

And for GM, general manufacture?

RFY is the 2.0 iron block MI16/S16/ZX 16v engine.

 

GM - general motors, afaik from the XE20.

 

Though I couldn't say for definite without looking up the specs again, I just showed the guy the piston and he came back with rings that fitted
