Anyone Else Not Using Their 205 Enough?

Mine will be lucky to do 500 miles between its MOT June 10 - June 11 but then it has been off the road under going a rebuild for the last nine months (still taxed & insured as intended to be a quick engine swap) but its almost complete again & booked for a remap at the end of the month.

Just put fresh tax on this week & hope it passes the MOT emissions as it runs out in two weeks!!

Graham.

I wish mine was used less. It's my daily driver. Coverd 6500+ miles this year already. My 309 Gti covered 11736 miles last year. I need to get a new car fast.....

You shouldn' t. They are meant to be driven and enjoyed. I was thinking of selling my 205 a few years ago before going abroad but i am glad i kept it and sold the zx as i had the most fun with it when using it daily. When i had to use my zx due to a 100 mile commute a day i was too tired to enjoy the 205 and it spent most of its time in the garage doing less than 3k a year. The zx (1.9td) saved me a lot on fuel though.

I've only done 48,000 in mine since 2002. The car was my only car up until 2005 aswell.

here is the some of the mileages I've recorded in my service book over the last few years to give you an Idea how much the car is used:

2009: mileage 152,100

2010: mileage 155,000

2011: mileage 157,000

The lake of use is mainly due to my job. I don't have to drive to work or for work and I often find myself on six month holidays in the sun.

Wow, this makes for interesting reading. A few years ago when I was on here regularly (up until 2008), the majority of people seemed to be using their 205s day-to-day and getting through a lot of miles.

It's pretty amazing to see that, just a few short years later, that most people barely use theirs. In some ways it's good, keeps miles down, I guess a lot of them live in the garage so they don't rust, and generally stay in better condition.

i was going to start a topic like this..

ive drove the 205 about 200 miles in a whole year, paid my insurance and tax for a whole year, why have i bothered ?

im not sure what to do with it.. it might be of better use to someone else, they might drive it, i think ive enjoyed re-building it over 5 yr more than driving it even though its fun to drive, im not sure im into driving fast that much

should i sell it or keep it ? hmm

Mine gets used more now than it ever has in the 5 years I've owned it. Regularly gets used for my 60 mile round trip commute and has done about 6k in about 10 months. I'm enjoying using it properly for the first time really, including a few trackdays thrown in. Not bad for a car that turns 20 this year.

I've had mine for 10 years now, daily driver throughout, averaged about 8000 miles per year.

When I get back from working offshore, I just jump in it and go for a drive...

These great little cars are for driving and you can see that people appreciate them being out and about.

About 1200 miles in mine since buying last year. Work and home lives make driving for pure fun a distant memory as I'm back to 1k a week again and frankly want to spend as little time as possible behind the wheel on my days off. Plan to get her through the MOT next month and taxed so she can be used when I get the bug back. Safely tucked away in the garage for now so dry and out of the way.

i've done 200 odd miles in mine each year for the last 4 years. <_< Luckily the classic policy is cheap at £120 FC but only tax it for spring/summer (6months).

The reason why its not used is that the missus refuses to sit in it -_- , Personally I wouldnt mind using it as an everyday vehicle

I do very few miles in mine. About 3000 in 3 years irc. It's about to go on the road for the summer but I think this will be our last together as the wife frowns upon it due to our baby and it's safety rating (or lack of).

I'll keep it until the lease expires on our Mazda and then start shopping for a suitable car to replace both, going to be fun test driving them all :)

Guilty :(

Since having a baby (2 years ago now!) I've been using it less and less. Just dont get the time :( Selling has crossed my mind but now Elton, Madge and Jolie are sorted the going rate for children has fallen somewhat.

I've just driven to Bordeaux with four friends in the back of my 205 vts - performed faultlessly and was bloody quick even five up...although petrol was expensive!

The wear and tear on the interior is more than a bit annoying however. And it's more than a bit loud at 90mph but you're only young once!

My 1.9 only comes out when it's dry and will only tax it for 6 months. I've had now since March and it's covered just over 500miles.

I'm enjoying it a lot as it's much more fun than my 60-plate Audi A6 2.0TDI 170 S-Line.

If I didn't have a 3 year old the A6 probably would have been a 8-year old 911 or something similar.

Cheers

My silver one has been parked up since augest last year and has moved 5 metres this year in and out of the garage. I am going to mot it next month as it runs out next week and I mite tax it this year or put it away again. I have done 500 miles between its mot's from 2009 till 2010.

I have done a major engine bay tidy up this year ready for show and shine at pugfest but I have got so much else going on that I dont no if they 205 will be going up there.

That engine bay is well smart Dale. I wish I had the patience to do mine. Saying that, I've only had the car 3 months and concentrated getting it through the MOT in April and repacing worn or missing parts.

Cheers

My insurance is up in August, tax expiring at the end of July. I doubt it's done 200 miles since I taxed it for 6 months.

99.9% of my journeys are with the wife & baby, and the wife won't take the baby in the 205 as it's "too loud" and "not safe".

Whilst I'd love to keep her, I think she will need a new home soon, even yesterday on a trip into town (5 miles) the wife insisted we took the Mazda. I just can't justify keeping it for the one trip I do to the Pod and perhaps Pugfest.

My car sat at my mums garage for 7 years without turning a wheel.lol I got it home a few months back as she was moving house(if she wasnt it would still be there)

Put it in for its first mot in over 6 years passed with a few advises.

So in 7 years my car has covered a total of 32 miles.lol

Still looks amazing tho.
