p1234 22 2 Cars Posted April 9, 2011 I have an Emerald K3 ecu, It was bought mapped and all with throttle bodies on here, I went to get it re mapped today and my mapper had problems accessing the ecu, The program kept switching between maps 1 2 and 3 and would not let him access it. Its not locked, when reading the maps it loaded to 99% and stopped, Anyone any ideas on this?
feb 47 Posted April 9, 2011 (edited) Have you tried contacting the person who mapped it previously or Dave Walker? Are you 100% sure the maps are not locked? I have no idea but I guess there must be such a facility as a map is considered the intellectual property of the mapper (in Ecutek at least this is what happens in order to protect their mappers). I tried downloading the manual but it doesn't open, can someone who has it send it to me? Cheers Edited April 9, 2011 by feb
Baz 421 Posted April 9, 2011 Emerald's do not have a map-locking function afaik.

feb 47 Posted April 10, 2011 (edited) Do you have a laptop with a serial port or are you using a USB to serial converter? USB to serial converters can sometime cause communication problems. Edited April 10, 2011 by feb
p1234 22 2 Cars Posted April 11, 2011 Using a laptop to serial port connection, my mapper was saying about the usb problems alright.
feb 47 Posted April 11, 2011 It is difficul to find laptops with serial ports these days so worth holding on to them if you can find any!
Tom Fenton 1,526 Posted April 11, 2011 I've had a similar problem in the past, try re-installing the Emerald software on your laptop, I am fairly sure this is how I sorted it out.
