1.6 Flywheel On A 1.9?

Recommended Posts

cRaig

Afternoon,

As Ive tracked down a new valeo clutch for the rebuild of my 205, I was condering getting the flywheel skimmed, and possibly lightened a bit, but after some searching I discovered that the 1.6 flywheel is a popular swap as its lighter than the standard 1.9 unit, but I cant find anything definitive for the weight differences?

Anyone done this swap? Recommended or not worth the effort of getting a 1.6 flyweel?

Cheers

Craig

Well worth it, not sure on the actual weight but it makes a big difference, it's one of the reasons 1.6's are so revvy!

In my standard 1.9 I run a 1.6 flywheel (bought at the time of the EuroTrip from PugHam rolleyes.gif). A recommended swap in my opinion.

Doing some "rework" on my 205 1.9 , and also bought to fit 1.6 flywheel ...

Weights (measured on digital scale) :

1.6 - 6.1kgs

1.9 - 7.1kgs

.. so 1kg off in between ...

1.6 on the left - 1.9 on the right (front side)

1.6 on the left - 1.9 on the right (back side)

.. the difference is , clearly visible
