Gti6 Crank Sensor

having issues with my gti6 conversion not starting, reading up on the box/crank sensors, does this sensor have to be from a gti6 box or can it be from another 2.0 engine from the same age, think the one on mine if from a 2000 reg 2.0xsi?

 

could this be the issue?

Generally speaking, they're all interchangable - most late XU's all use the same one anyhow

thought so it was working fine on my s16 loom and ecu a few days earlyer just thought i would check,
