Expansion Tank Stays Cold?

Recommended Posts

weejimmy

ok i got my new ( second hand) caps fot the 1.4 and put them on

the pipe from rad to thermostat no longer goes brick hard.

the pipe gets hot ( its had new thermostat too) so think thats not an issue.

the fans inside the car blow hot air.

but the expansion tank stays cold.... is that normal?

only realy been under idle not a proper drive as its not insured yet.

It will certainly take a while to warm up, as there's no water flow through it (unlike a 205 XU) and would be relying on heat convection to warm it.

Like Anthony said the tu3's only take water from the header when they need, so may not get hot at all for quite a while. I would check mine but the rallye has no engine at the moment!

Nah, just lulling you into a false sense of security, biding its time until it goes bang in a catastrophic manner... :(
