1.9 Road Rally Engine Spec

Just about to strip down 1.9 GRP N spec engine and looking for ideas for upgrade to get a few more horses , such as bigger valves, change cam, skimmed head without going overboard money wise

1.6 pistons, nice cam, someone to look over the head, mapable management, that would be my approach.

 

you can't really go that far on the 8 valve wqithin road rally regs because you have to retain the single throttle body intake, so unless you fabricate something that improves on the standard inlet significantly, you are fairly limited.

 

aftermarket management will help massively, as you aren't relying on an AFM to cope with pretty large pulses you'll get from more overlap and higher compression.

Basically what you have said, had all the above done and a bit more and mine has been rolling roaded at 150bhp and operator said it would do more when run in,coupled to a 1.6 box and 4.4cwp with Tran-x diff it flies!not cheap though as you are prob talking £1700 for full rebuild
