Guest Misho 605 SVti

Hi mates,

My name is Mike. I live in Bulgaria, so please have my apologies for not fluent English.

I will open very soon new topic in 205GTIDrivers Forum > Car Projects & Works > Projects & Works Starters soon with my own project - Peugeot 605 2.0 16v Turbo, based on XU10 series engine.

Here I will show you my engine conversion.

As a base I used my own XU10J2TE engine. My head was cracked between all valves, the engine block was hardly worn, and I decided in a few seconds that this engine will live his second life, upgrated to 16v.

The engine block was fixed and bored to 86.5mm

I choose the best internals I could afforded:

JE Pistons custom design (mirrored combusion chamber, not those from XU10J4TE) with several extras:

And of course Top Seal gapless 1-st compression rings for the project:

The connecting rods took their place - Custom Pauter rods:

We started with the engine bottom.

The block after grinding was carefully washed and dried as well the crankshaft:

We installed the engine block on the stand and started assembling it:

Pistons and rods took their places:

That day we got very tired and decided to stop work.

So, the 8v head went for scrap.

I managed to find 16v head from Citroen ZX Volcano 2.0 with XU10J4 engine.

It was like this:

605_xu10j4r_16v_head_2_web_e64ad_24700244.jpg

It was refurbished like this:

It looks a litle bit better, ain't it? It took time to obtain these results.

Miles

Good luck with the ring's, they are known not to be great in Pug engine's, the last engine I had in with these fitted lost compression in 6000 kms', that was only a 8v as well with no turbo

New exhaust manifold was purchased from DP-Engineering.

The manifold was purchased partially finished, otherwise it could not be installed in my Peugeot 605 - the servo unit and the master cylinder come at improper place.

Thanks for the info! If they will not work, I will replace them. I will revise the engine at 5000 km, we'll see.

By the way, instead of using decompression plate, I purchased the JE pistons with dished shape with the necessary piston volume, and I lowered the CR down to 8:1. The deck clearance is 0.9mm, and the engine will run at most 1.6-1.7 bar.

Those were my engine modifications. Today or tomorrow I will open new topic and will show you my Peugot 605 2.0 8v turbo (143hp) to 2.0 16v turbo (350+ hp).

I hope this engine conversion was interested to some of you.

Hi again,

This is my personal project for Peugeot 605 2.0 8v turbo upgrade. I decided to modify the whole car, including engine, suspension, cooling system, ECU, brake system, headlights, etc, etc.

AND the car audio system at last.

AGAIN - please have my apologies for my English, I am doing my best to describe everything very simply to avoid huge mistakes.

So, here everything started.

Engine was the first thing I modified in my 605. I already opened a topic with the engine modifications – http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?showtopic=123402. Click on the link for more information.

The engine and the gearbox were installed in the engine bay.

605_front_view_open_bonnet_web_96f1d_24754335.jpg

Most of the wires and looms were gently removed from the engine bay.

New SPAL fans were supposed to be installed, and the genuine 605 fans passed away ...

Firstly I choosed the position of the new intercooler (I will doscuss it later on) as well the holes for the intercooler pipes.

2007-10-24_fmic_and_tubes_alignment_web_bc863_24754389.jpg

The front frame was totally remastered. That was how the frame looked like before the Judgment day:

2007-10-24_fans_before_judgment_day_web_1b3a3_24754390.jpg

The fans were removed:

I like this speedy tool ....

Thanks to it, here is the result:

All radiators were installed and everything looks to be fine:

I purchased all parts for the intercooler separately.

My big disappointment was because I ordered them from VECCO, USA.... Never ever use their services!!!!! Many Americans had been suffered from them ... and now one Bulgarian.... I should have purchased them straight from Treadstone.

I chose the vertical flow type intercooler because of better air flow. I modified it slightly, adding separator in the end tanks.

The core was a little bit longer, but I cut it very easy.

intercooler_treadstone_web_50abd_24754435.jpg

The baffles were welded to the end tanks.

intercooler_assembled_outlet_2_web_e7430_24754426.jpg

The end tanks were welded to the core.

And the FMIC was done.

Interesting project :o

Don't see many Peugeot 605's around anymore, and I don't think I've ever heard of anyone modifying one to the extent that you are.

I am in love with this car. I will never sell it, I would rather die.

There is another guy in Serbia, he is modifying his 605 too. He aims at the optical tuning while I want to give my engine more air. :o:D

However .... the intrcooler and the radiators were fixed in a proper way and the car got moved to our new garage.

I ordered High performance SPAL fans from Germany.

These monsters are too heavy to be mounted directly to the water radiator. We made custom alu frame to support the fans.

The latest pictures that you've posted are VERY big (3072x3204) which take a long time to load for people on slower connections - could you please try and resize images down to around 640x480 prior to posting?
