Management Help

Recommended Posts

Moz_Goodwood

hi all, ive recently bought a unfinished project, its a 309 gti with a mi16 conversion thats nearly finished.

its got a alloy mi16 bottom end with a s16 head and high lift cat cams, its been running in the past but it was on kms management which has since been sold

now a few questions

1). can i now use standard mi16 management?

2). will it need mapping due to the cat cams?

3). is a standard mi16 ecu mappable?

4). which mi16 management will i need?

i have searched but nothing has really answered it

any help at all would be brilliant

cheers

paul

I was running an Mi16 with different cams for about 5 years before moving to a mappable set up. It ran well and nicely if a little rich at the bottom end. Moving to the Emerald and adding a GTi-6 inlet has released more power from the set up and also increased both power and torque curve across the range. The downside is that I've spent a load of cash on this however this is actually outweighed by the smile it puts on my face when dropping a couple of gears.

So

A/ Yes - although not the best solution

B/ It would make better use of the cams - but mine used to run fine.

C/ No, AFAIK only by a piggy back chip

D/ Any although I only have experience of the 3 row.

EDIT: E/ So normal management will work fine but for more flexibility (perhaps TB's in the future) an aftermarket set up is worth considering.
