With £6.5k To Spend, What Would You Buy?

Recommended Posts

Tom Fenton

So our lass has been saving up, and with the sale of her car will have roughly £6.5k to spend.

With no majorly important criteria, what would you buy?

At the moment she fancies a MINI Cooper S, but with it potentially being a toy for us both, I'm sure you lot can suggest other alternatives.

From what ive seen of the mini's stay away, prone to so many problems. Clutch's, King Pins coming out of the diff and wrecking the entire casing and a couple of engines.

Bmw all the way, it is nice to have a car that you can jump in every day and eat the Miles up. look for low milage and bmw service history and big spec as the low spec Bmw's dont sell well. I payed 9,300 for mine with only 15,000 miles on the clock and I am the third owner.

Mini if it is for Lisa. They are small, fun, chic and good residuals. All the young hot Gym Bunnies opposite my work have them! I'd have one for the wife if we were pre kids.

Other option is to get an S2000 if they come in for that kind of money. It is good to get a cabrio whilst you are not restricted by family etc. It makes you go on drives out when it is sunny.

I would sooner have an A4 (or S4) than a 3 Series.

But for this kind of money, buy a 2004 Saab Aero Cabrio. That'll do a job for the both of you.

Henry, she says she likes the gym but isn't a gym bunny!!

Thanks for the suggestions, she quite fancies a MINI, plus I have an 04 Audi A4, so we don't really need another car of that size. Honda S2000 worth a look I think.

What about a Panda 100HP?

The EVO writers used to really rate it, and apparently they are a right hoot to throw about. A contemporary 1.6 GTI possibly? :D

Granted they are not the trendiest of motors (but then I can't stand the non Cooper S Minis either), but I think they are quite cool, in a slightly gawky looking way.

Mini S FTW, they are very strong very safe and hold their value very well.

I think the Panda is a good leftfield suggestion.
