ORB 227 1 Cars Posted April 12, 2010 Well, I bought a car today so that I can get my mother in law (who I dont like a whole lot) out of her Escort that is mega knackered. The car in question is a Primera SRi 5 door in red. It is on an N reg and has 150,000 on the clocks, full service history and 4 months MOT. It is in clean condition with a little rot on the drivers wing but thats it. I paid fifty quid for it as a trade in at work. What I am asking, is anyone ever had any experience of these cars? common faults? I dont care as at 50 notes, it can go in the bin if it does not get through an MOT. Problems I have spotted so far: - Handbrake is crap - Starter solenoid works poorly when the engine is cold sometimes. Any input? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
The Arch Bishop 0 Posted April 12, 2010 They're pretty sturdy if I remember but I think the gearboxes have a habit of popping out of fifth on high-mileage cars. I do know they handle pretty nicely but I'm guessing your mother in law probably won't appreciate the niceties of a well balanced chassis. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Anulfo 22 Posted April 13, 2010 Got an M-reg micra 1.3 as my daily driver and have had a few primera's too.Mechanically they seem bullet proof if serviced at proper intervals and the SRI is a pretty capable car!!!Think the main worry of nissans of this age is rust.Up til about a year or so ago i had a K-plate primera estate which from the outside looked solid but one day i was jacking it up to change a wheel and CRUNCH as the jack punched through the rusty floor.....on closer inpection underneath it was rotten as a pear!!!!
