Guest C_F Posted August 22, 2003 (edited) Is there any way of lowering my front seats. My brother's 1.9 has the same seats but they sit alot closer to the floor.I recently sat in another 205 GTI and the seats in that were the same as my brother's. My seats are standard. Can anyone make a suggestion to bring my seat lower to the floor??? Edited August 22, 2003 by C_F
Guest doughboy Posted August 22, 2003 yeah, under the runners you will find some round black plastic spacers... try fitting seats without these..
Gary 2 Posted August 23, 2003 For some reason, they used different thickness washers for different cars. Some are black plastic ones, about a cm thick and some have metel ones only a couple of mm thick. Easy job to replace them
Guest Gar Posted August 23, 2003 I tried taking the washers out of mine, but found the sliding mechanism dragged on the carpet, so I put them back.
Guest Hungrytang Posted August 23, 2003 The reason that there are two different types of washers is that the two subframes are quite different The thicker washer was used to around G reg I think and the the thin type after not really sure why?
jackherer 543 Posted August 23, 2003 I've taken those washers out of loads of 205s now and never had a problem with the seat hitting the carpet.
Simes 248 2 Cars Posted August 23, 2003 Yep! I've taken them out of mine and no problems - mine are the later 9/10mm black spacers.
fiji bob 0 Posted August 23, 2003 did you put anything in their place?
Simes 248 2 Cars Posted August 23, 2003 did you put anything in their place? No, I was planning on using some mud guard washers but since it all seems to work alright I haven't bothered.
jackherer 543 Posted August 23, 2003 I didnt replace them with anything either
fiji bob 0 Posted August 24, 2003 have you taken the seats out since then? i did notice some moisture under the spacers the last time i took the seats out it might be worth finding a thin washer so the seat frames dont rust
Guest Batfink Posted August 25, 2003 use silicon sealer on the underside to stop the moisture getting in???
Hilgie 16 2 Cars Posted August 25, 2003 I have taken the washers and the mechanism for getting in the back out. Now they sit quite low. If someone needs to be in the back he/she'll have to go in through the passengers side.
