Seat Height

Recommended Posts

Is there any way of lowering my front seats. My brother's 1.9 has the same seats but they sit alot closer to the floor.I recently sat in another 205 GTI and the seats in that were the same as my brother's.

My seats are standard.

Can anyone make a suggestion to bring my seat lower to the floor???

yeah,

under the runners you will find some round black plastic spacers...

try fitting seats without these..

For some reason, they used different thickness washers for different cars. Some are black plastic ones, about a cm thick and some have metel ones only a couple of mm thick.

Easy job to replace them ;)

I tried taking the washers out of mine, but found the sliding mechanism dragged on the carpet, so I put them back.

The reason that there are two different types of washers is that the two subframes are quite different

The thicker washer was used to around G reg I think and the the thin type after

not really sure why?

I've taken those washers out of loads of 205s now and never had a problem with the seat hitting the carpet.

Yep! I've taken them out of mine and no problems - mine are the later 9/10mm black spacers.

No, I was planning on using some mud guard washers but since it all seems to work alright I haven't bothered.

have you taken the seats out since then? i did notice some moisture under the spacers the last time i took the seats out it might be worth finding a thin washer so the seat frames dont rust

I have taken the washers and the mechanism for getting in the back out. Now they sit quite low. If someone needs to be in the back he/she'll have to go in through the passengers side.
