2.0 Turbo Conversion

Recommended Posts

rory1

Hi

I am having problems with the wiring for my 2.0 turbo conversion, 406 engine. I'm not getting any spark, I'm just wondering if anyone can help or advise on this?

Double Relay

I've added a live to pins 15,14,11 and 8 and switched live to 3.

ECU

I've added live to 18 and earth at 47 and 19.

Engine is turning over and fuel pump is working. I've changed the coil and TDC sensor but still no spark!

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

Cheers

Paul

Is it not switched live to pin 2 of the relay on the 406? Also pin 3 of the relay goes to ecu pin 27 on the 406 IIRC :)

Hi!

Did you connect pin 27 of the ECU to switched live? This is also needed to get it running.

Best regards

Michael

Try running pin 10 of the relay directly to earth, see if that works.

i have tryed that

should pin 10 be live untill i try and start the engine, then switch to earth?

i dont have a oxygen sensor pluged in will that make any difference?

I believe it will have a live feed then when its earthed it creates a circuit, switching the relay.

I don't have an oxygen sensor in mine at the moment and that still starts.

pin 10 is staying live even when trying to start the engine

what about the vss? not having it pluged in wont stop it from starting

AFAIK it will as its then a live circuit?

Won't make any difference to starting.

Is your engine RGY or RGX?

The engine code should be stamped into the block here-

This is the wiring diagram for the RGX

Everything else seems correct so I'd just have a good old double check mate :(

you'd have to send it off to someone with the right equipment to get it unlocked, ade_4wd on here does it, top chap!

did you remove the engine from a running car?

The guy i bought it off removed the engine, he said it was running fine untill the head gasket went on it.

he would need to have either disconnected the ECU whilst the engine was running or removed the ECU with the key in the ignition on position once he had disabled the immobiliser, this way the lock command is not resent to the ECU.

your wiring does sound correct and the relays are behaving as you would expect on a working car so it does sound like the ECU is locked :(

I have the key with the chip in it, if i was to plug the ecu into the 406 i got parts of at the scrappy, then turn the ignition on then unplug the ecu would it be unlocked?

if you replace the wiring loom into the 406 (i'm assuming you've removed this as well) and connect it up to a battery, turn the ignition on and then disconnected the ECU yes that should unlock it.

there is a transponder around the ignition barrel which works in conjunction with the chip in the key to lock/unlock the ECU, and the ECU ckey and transponder are all linked together so you have to unlock it on the original car

the wire loom is still in the 406 so its just a case of pluging in the ecu

thanks for the help will be going down to the scrappy at the weekend
