Opinions Please

Recommended Posts

Just made this but would like some opinions of how you think it looks please?

I know it's not legal but I think it looks pretty good.

Rank!

But I'd be more concerned with the positive camber on the front wheel.

Maybe the width of the recess but the same depth ie stretched might look abit better.

Xsara vts hubs and my tracking Is way out is what's giving the dodgy camber I think. I think it looks ok, my other plate that fits the recess will be going back on to stop any unwanted police atraction though.

In actual fact looking again at that camber it does look a little exesive. Any ideas what would cause this?

the vts/306 hubs give some positive camber. IMHO you want to look into getting some 309 wishbones, or 205 1.9 hubs. Or both! That camber is definitely wrong.

As far as the plate goes, I'm all for a bit of trimming down to fit the recess, but the one you posted looks a bit silly.

It could be an optical illusion. If I focus on the car the wheel look bad, but if I look at the wheel it looks about right. I think its down to the mud on the tyre. Get it tracked, your tryes will last longer. If it is that cambered then the wishbone bushes/balljoints is where I'd be looking.

Here's my normal cut recess fitting plate it definatly looks much better.

i'm pretty sure the ball joints are good there's no play in them and the wishbone bushes are good so it must be the surely be the hubs. I will make a note of getting the tracking done this week at work and will also look into getting a pair of 309 wishbones.

I'm in the "not lovin' it" corner, im afraid. Not loving the 306 rallye graphics either, be nicer with some PTS stripes on the grille instead. Don't be offended though, im just a purist.

It's good to hear the views I did have a PTS strip on there but they seem to be the fashion now, so I thought I would be different and use a rallye one. I may modify another rallye strip and have them individually on each slat of the grille.

Yeah I had a rallye 306 one on each bar of the grille and it looked better, and as for the plate the one you had on before is best, dont used the other one as you will forever be stopped and fined by police! Even the cut down one is not legal, a mate got stop and warned about his cut down one the other day so the tiny one is asking for trouble.

Don't say the PTS stickers are the fashion! I just bought one thinking i'd make my GTi a bit different! Was thinking about doing one on the boot too..

I got stopped for having my tax disc behind the mirror today, so that small plate is asking for it. I'd put it at the bottom of the valence personally. No holes needed in either the bumper or the valence! :)

That's a little harsh tbh.

Its much better than putting the plate over the red stripe imo.
