106 1.1 Xn Brake Upgrade

Recommended Posts

Retro Pug

A mate of mine bought a 106 XN 1.1 as a runabout while in university. Trouble is the brakes are very poor and he seems to need pads and discs every 5-6 months?! I need to double check but I think he has the 3 stud hubs so I suppose he's quite limited?

I was thinking about an AX GT set up would this work or is there just a better calliper that will bolt on?

I've got my old 1.6 hubs, discs and callipers would these fit?

As he's in uni he's of course on a tight budget, plus he returned from a lecture to find someone had bumped his passenger door and rear quarter and just driven off!

Any ideas would be very much appreciated!

if he's on 3 stud its a lot easier to get a set of struts from a scrappy off a 4 stud car, then you can use standard saxo/106 (and 1.9 205) vented discs no probs with your 1.6 calipers.

205 hub assemblies don't fit the 106.
