jeremy 68 Posted March 14, 2010 It's mine, it's mine, it's mine. I haven't felt this excited in ages Ok it needs a new H/G and a thorough clean. For anyone interested it was the one on Ebay. I wil get pics up once I have collected it.
Baz 421 Posted March 14, 2010 Looked like a good buy tbh, not bad money and has all the right bits. I'm afraid to say it's probably rotten though...
jeremy 68 Posted March 14, 2010 I actually went and viewed it although I did not get to far under it I did check the inner wings in the boot and under the back seats and it was all 100% sound. It had been dry stored for about the last five years from memory it could have been less. The leather looked like new other than it needs a dam good clean. jeremy 68 Posted March 16, 2010 Right a bit of an update, some good, some not so good. Essentialy the shell is sound, yes it does have some rust, but nothing to cause imediate concern although for good measure it will get looked at. I think in the right hands of a body shop specialist two days later it could transform the car to looking very tidy as oposed to looking good for its age. The interior again I think is very good for its age, the only down sides being a few marks on the drivers door card due to someone smoking, another pea sized burn in the carpet, and finally some dents in the rear leather seat where the radiator was left for a year. However with some leather care stuff I'm sure the interior would be worthy of a good 9/10. I did not realise it also comes with rear headrests. The engine bay is a mess as the head was removed, and nothing labeled up to give anyoune a clue, along with all the parts removed. Also one of the liners has departed with the block, so I think it may well be easier to get a complete lump with some history. Other than that I was pleased as it has power steering. As for the gear box and rear beam it will just be a case of getting the car running and hoping for the best. I will try and get some pics up later but my wife has replaced Picture It with some Image Transfer thing and I have no ide what to do.
welshpug 1,622 Posted March 16, 2010 one of the liners has departed with the block, thats quite normal if they have not been clamped down, itys nothing to worry about though, a new set of liner seals and alls good as long as the seats in the block are in good condition, no point wasting money trying to find another good engine. I do believe j turnell has sourced liner seals and has them for sale on the forum.

I agree with you however this is not a job I would feel confident in doing myself, perhaps mainly due to lack of experience. Although I will take the block out of the car so I'll see if there is a good guide on this and perhaps then give it a go. Thanks

jeremy 68 Posted March 16, 2010 First thanks for the link. God the net makes for a small place. I have to say from looking at those pics you would not guess that the car parked on my drive is one of the same. He must have cleaned it then just let it get very dusty.
