Painting Chrome Inserts Red.....

Recommended Posts

j_turnell

I was on the look out for a set of red inserts, then i thought why not paint the chrome set i have as they are much stronger, the red inserts are far too flimsy.

Has anyone done this and what red did you use to get a good match??

cheers, James

Rosso Red (a ford colour) isnt far off, maybe a bit more orangey.

I did this on a Gti years ago sold it a couple of years later and still hadn't peeled or discoloured.

I used tape before on a gti and as long as your strips are clean and your tape sticky, it will last for a few years

Electrical tape is probably the best way if you already have chrome ones, at least you can change them back whenever you want :P

Well just to update this, got a role of red tape from screwfix for 50p  and set about putting it on. Was a little bit fiddly, but i recon it looks pretty good, not quite as dark as the standard inserts but good all the same....
