Recommended Posts

As above.

I got 306 be3 box with intention on putting 205 diesel final drive .

Now since I have never open be3 box I am bit worried that it might be too hard for me to do?

What does it involve?

any ideas??

it involves stripping the box right down, removing all the synchro's and sprockets off the output shaft and fitting them to the new one, as well as swapping the crown wheel on the diff.

fairly involved, but not overly complicated to someone mechanically confident.

The whole job is coverd in the link below;

http://www.rallyparts.co.uk/cwp_change/

Not to difficult if your competent with the spanners but not a first time mechanicing job either ideally you need use of an airgun for the gearbox shaft end nuts.

What 306 box are you swapping the FD on?

Graham.

you can also use a hammer and a chisel to remove the bolts, unfortunately you need new ones after that, or you simply use a flex to cut the securing rills 90° rotated in the shafts, then you can use the old, demolished nuts. does not look good, but works!

i found no tool to handle them properly.

I used just a long ratchet when Pugtop showed me one, follow the directions to lock the shafts together by selecting two gears and it should become clear

you will need a 28mm socket <_<

I've done it before using a plate of metal to jam the gears together to undo them but for a first time gearbox strip when you need to re-use the gears in I think using an airgun is best.

Not all BE3's use the same shaft output shaft, so check this first

Locking 2 gears together is pretty useful.

Gearbox's are just jigsaw puzzles... only easier.
