davemar 16 Posted July 1, 2009 Driving home last night and suddenly my knob became loose and nearly came off. Had a quick look, and there was a big split down the side of it. I had to grab the shaft instead, which makes it feel stiffer of course. Naturally I'm talking about the gearstick. I think the hot weather has finally degraded the rubbery plastic the gear knob is made of and it split making it come loose. I've managed to find a replacement on eBay, but for now I'm driving without a knob. It's easy enough, but getting into reverse (old style pull-up job) was a little tricky.
