What Is The Little Black Dome Near Interior Light?

Recommended Posts

jason7579

I have had a search through this forum, scanned the Haynes manual and checked servicebox but I can't see any mention of it.

On the plastic trim near the interior light and the sunroof handle on my 1.9 205 GTI there is a small black plastic dome type thing. I was replacing the aerial at the weekend and noticed that it has something in it - possibly a light sensor???

I haven't got a clue what it is or what its for, does anyone know? Has anyone got one? It looks like a standard part to me but I can't remember seeing it on my 1.6 GTI.

Thanks, I haven't got a keyfob for central locking - is it possible to get a new one/second hand one programmed? Just done a search and found out that its probably not worth looking into - might see if my alarm can get a remote locking unit added

That explains why my 1.6 didn't have it.

by the way, my infra-red remote central lock is still working. In order to keep it working, make sure the aerial and the bolts holding the sunroof front cover lip don't drip/leak.

Or that you don't drill through the receiver to screw in a hook for a magic tree like the previous owner of mine did.
