TRYNKEEPUP 0 Posted May 22, 2009 Just purchased a daily runner 1.6 gti so i keep 1.9 in garage, trouble is new car has blacked out windows, thought it would be a ten min job removing it, just picked edges of tint and it ripped of in sheets! lovley i thought, but there is now all the old adhesive all over windows, have i got to rub like hell with paint thinners or petrol or is there an easier way ! ALEX 98 1 Cars Posted May 28, 2009 (edited) I used the kettle to remove the film and then turps on the glass to remove the sticky gunk using the rough side of a sponge. Edited May 28, 2009 by ALEX
Richie 32 Posted May 29, 2009 White spirits, or a use a sharp T blade+warm water with plenty of elbow grease. There are adhesive removers on the market, but from experience they are a bit useless.
pug_ham 240 3 Cars Posted May 29, 2009 Park your car in the sun fior a few hours. The tints came off my 306 just by lifting the corner & pulling, I didn't need any heat to get it all off. Graham.

Good idea graham, ive done alot of car valeting and had this before. I used autosmarts preptone and it came away easy, you can also use any based solvent ie panel wipe or thinners.
