timb1046 1 Posted May 15, 2009 i know this has been covered before as i remember reading the topic, but having done various searches to no avail im asking again, i need to know the wire colour that comes from the ignition barrel to the coil. the problem is my wiring has been butchered by a previous owners fitting several alarms to it in its past so no wire #s can be seen just the initial colour coming from the barrel. any help appriciated, even if its eliminating wires. timb1046 1 Posted May 19, 2009 anyone? or anyone with a better diagram of it than the haynes? any help, realy would be appriciated. Regards Tim
welshpug 1,622 Posted May 19, 2009 there aren't any wire numbers between the ignition switch and the fusebox IIRC. only 2 plugs, one goes from fusebox to switch, the other from switch back to fusebox. easy enough to trace backwards though, the connections to the fusebox are shown on the wiring diagram, and there's a corresponding diagram showing where those plugs are on the fusebox in the Haynes manual, more than enough to go by. a multimeter that beeps or a power probe will help a lot
pugpete1108 62 1 Cars Posted May 19, 2009 from what i can gather its the thick red wire from the ignition switch, number 2 but thats only from what others have said on here so dont take it as gospel best to test it with a meter
welshpug 1,622 Posted May 19, 2009 nope, wire 2 is on the fusebox to engine side, NOT the ignition switch.....
