Veero 1 Posted April 30, 2009 Now I know this has been covered many a time before and I have done a thorough search but can't quite find the info I am after. I am creating an entire wiring loom for the engine management side of my Mi16, I am also semi-incorporating the wiring from the 2 brown plugs since after 18 years it's a bit messy. The following info was taken from this thread. However it does not match up with what I have found with my car. Plugs in the 205 9 Pin Brown connector 1. Reverse light (wire 52, brown) 2. Reverse light (wire 53, purple) 3. Coolant light (wire 47, yellow) 4. Coolant meter (wire 47a, red) 5. Alternator (wire 7a, brown thin wire) 6. Oil pressure meter (wire 30, lilac) 7. Oil temp meter (wire 30a, white) 8. Oil pressure light (wire 30b, grey) 9. Switched positive (wire 2, light blue) 6 Pin Brown connector 1. Coolant fluid level (wire 47b) 2. Fuel pump (wire 76) 3. Coolant fluid level (wire M47B) 4. RPM meter (wire 112) 5. K-Light (wire 74) 6. Starter motor (wire 46) Now I have the 205 Haynes manual and have checked all the wires on the 9 pin plug. It all makes sense except for pin 9. I believed that my starter motor solenoid was driven by this wire but since it's all disconnected I can't now be certain. However on the engine side of my 6 pin plug I have the following: Pin 1: Red thick wire, 2A. I can find no reference in the wiring diagrams for 2A, 2 yes, 2B and 2C yes but not 2A. Also coming out of pin 1 is a thin yellow wire (number 33B perhaps, can't make out the number) which loops around the plug and disappears off into the dash so it actually impossbible to remove the plug without cutting that wire. Pin 2: Empty Pin 3: Grey thin wire (I suspect 112, tachomoter drive). So this wire goes to coil pin 1? Pin 4: Yellow/green thick wire labelled 'M'. Presumably an earth, cut and left free. Pin 5: White thick wire 76. Presumably this is the fuel pump 12v+ feed. I had a small link wire from the flying spade on the BX loom to the corresponding pin on the old tachymetric relay plug. Pin 6: Empty Since the 205 does not have a coolant fluid level gauge I assume the above data is wrong in some way. Although the description above is looking the other side of the plug, so is my 2A the starter wire? Can anyone shed some light on this? Also can someone tell me which wire connects to the coil or amp and which pin for the switched live? Please please help, I've been tracing wires and staring at picture for 2 days now and am slowly going mad, I haven't even started building it yet Veero
mattbenselin 0 Posted April 30, 2009 thick red wire is switched +12v feed with ignition so powers the coil etc. thin yellow wire goes the fuel tach relay me thinks others are correct. you will find that some looms have the thick red wire on one plug whilst others have it on the other. Anthony 1,000 Posted April 30, 2009 Copied from some notes I wrote out for a friend that was doing an Mi16 conversion.... 9 pin connector that connects under 205 dash: 1. Wire #52 (Brown) Reverse lamp 2. Wire #53 (Purple) Reverse lamp 3. Wire #47 (Yellow) Coolant temperature warning lamp 4. Wire #47A (Red) Coolant temperature gauge 5. Wire #7A (Brown) Alternator charge lamp 6. Wire #30 (Purple) Oil pressure warning lamp 7. Wire #30A (White) Oil temperature gauge 8. Wire #30B (Grey) Oil pressure gauge 9. Wire #2A (Red) Switched +12v ignition (note 1) 6 pin connector that connects under 205 dash: 1. N/C 2. Wire #76 (White) Fuel Pump 3. Wire M (Yellow/Green) Earth 4. Wire #112 (Grey) Rev Counter 5. Unknown Engine check light (note 2) 6. Wire #46 (Blue) Starter Solenoid (note 1) Note 1 – on some cars, the switched 12v and starter solenoid pins are round the other way, so you need to check this. Note 2 – this wire wasn’t present on my link loom, so I had to add this in (hence no wire number/colour).
Veero 1 Posted April 30, 2009 Oh my god! You two are legends. Yes that makes sense that the 12v switched is on the 6 pin plug and the starter solenoid connector is on the other. Can you tell me where the fuel pump wire (white 76) and earth (yellw/green 'M') go to? Switched likve goes to Coil pin 3 right? Thanks so much! Veero
mattbenselin 0 Posted April 30, 2009 wire 76 goes to the fuel pump in the tank Earth wire goes into the engine loom and connects with the other earths and I think is actually earthed on the gearbox switched live goes to the coil yeah then to the ignition amplifier i think. what are you wiring in? EVERYTHING! Seriously, I am building a whole new engine management and sensor loom.
2052006 10 Posted April 30, 2009 My switched live / starter are also the other way round (to that first list you posted).

Miles 331 1 Cars Posted May 2, 2009 No need for the Earth in the plug, Ditch it as it's not used engine side with the 16v loom
