How Do I Get The Steering Arms Off?

How do i get the steering arms (the part the rod end screw in to) off the steering rack? Is there a guide any where?

a set of water pump pliers/stilsons or something similar and they will screw out mate

Ah i see is there some lock it looks like theres a jam washer there is it this that holds them?

the washers 'lock the arms on. they can be abit fiddly to do with the rack still in the car, but theres a special tool for the job. might be worth popping into your local garage and seeing if you can borrow it for a few beer tokens. they make the job much easier.

I did my offside one yesterday.

Car in the air.

Remove ARB arm links to the shock both sides and pull the ARB down out the way.

Undo the TRE (track rod end)

remove both bottom arm inner bolts

turn the steering to the left

pull the gaiter back.

use a pipe wrench and put it around the socket type thing and unscrew it.

 

 

The NS one on a PAS car has a boot outboard of the little stud the ram bolts onto. Get a screw driver and it will pop off, giving access to the tie rod ball/socket. May be possible to get the NS one off with out removing the bottom arm.

Iv managed to get them off now a big pair of grips did the trick :lol:

 

Can you still buy these arms new from pug?

i got mine 3-4 years ago from www.peugeotparts.co.uk. genuine ones for about £17 each. PAS ones are about 10mm longer than non PAS ones. 205 and 309 PAS are the same
