New Parts For My Front Konis

Recommended Posts

zilog

I have bought the parts shown in http://wintermute.csbnet.se/~zilog/bilen/new_koni_parts/ to add external adjustability to the adjustable yellow koni shocks that I have got for my 205GTI. The shocks that will get donated parts are shown in http://wintermute.csbnet.se/~zilog/bilen/koni_rebuild/ (pictures from an old rebuild performed long ago).

My question is how the external adjuster stuff is supposed to work - the long, thin rod with a 180 degree hook at it's end drops right through the damper rod if I hold the rod vertically, so I guess I will need to lathe some kind of knob to sit outside of the shock, both to hold the adjuster rod in place, and to allow me to turn it in order to adjust the internal parts that are actuated by the hook?

Anyone with externally adjustable Konis that could tell me about how their shocks are constructed? The guy I bought the parts from told me this should be all that I need to convert my old shocks with the new functionality - I myself am a bit skeptical to the kit not containing some kind of knob..
