Recommended Posts

Guest 80wya

I have a non standard cam in my 8v 1.9 gti engine. how can i work out the lift of it? do i need to take into account the thickness of the bucket the cam runs on?

Get a DTi gauge, place it to contact the bucket, set it at 0mm with the cams highest point 180deg (facing away) from the bucket, then rotate till you see peak lift.

Or look at the numebr stamped on the end of the cam and look it up on the manf's website for the cam spec

Using a pair of vernier calipers, measure the lobe at 12-6 o'clock, and 9-3 o'clock (base circle). Subtract the two measurements and that's the maximum lift.
